The Business Travel Guide-Tips For Better Sleep in Hotels

Posted on August 16th, 2010 by admin

When you travel on business, you have to be prepared for meetings and proposals. Jetlag and not being able to sleep are no excuse for a poor job. You have been sent to conduct business and must be refreshed enough to get the job done well. The following are some tips to help anyone on business travel get better sleep while staying in hotels:

Before you book your hotel rooms, check to see how close they are to the train station, airport, and other noise. Often, it is the noise that will keep you awake. If you can not find a hotel that is not near a lot of noise, make sure you come prepared with ear plugs.

Another common problem with hotels is the windows often let in too much light. To keep the light out, packing clothespins in your suitcase will help to hold them together. Blocking out the light, you can be assured a better night’s sleep.

When checking into the hotel, ask them if they have a room available that has a new bed. The beds in hotels can become very worn before replacing and the uncomfortable bed could easily keep you awake all night.

Along with uncomfortable beds, you may have to deal with uncomfortable pillows. One of the best things you can do to prevent this is to buy a special travel pillow and take this with you wherever you are sent.

When you travel a lot for business, you may be missing home. Bring a few things along with you that will remind you of home. You can also do the same routine you do at home before going to bed, such as wash your face, brush your teeth, and read. Changing your routine because of your location is enough to prevent you from sleeping well.
